There is something about this series that gets readers hooked from the first novel. Reckless Girl is the fifth novel in the Tyler family series, and it is as spellbinding as the previous novels. Anna Davis is finally getting over the trauma of losing a baby and the stress of the scenarios in the previous novel where she killed someone, when one of Tanya’s friends from her previous life shows up at the club. Tanya welcomes her old friend and introduces her to Anna. The problem is that this old friend has an alternate agenda and confronts Freddy with the news that he has a son who is seven years old. Freddy, of course, knows nothing about this and learns that his old mentor, Vince, previously paid the girl a large sum of money to have an abortion and disappear. Obviously she didn’t do this and has come back to try to get more money out of Freddy. Freddy has other problems, too, as a gang from Manchester is trying to take over his territory. There are also police detectives who are watching Freddy closely and he is in danger of being arrested.

The novels in this series are well-written, and because most of us don’t really know what goes on with the British mafia, are believable. The characters are well-developed, and in each novel, become more and more like old friends. The difference between the characters in most novels and in Tallon’s novels, is that the main characters that are loved, are powerful players in the underground, and we love them anyway and want them to succeed in their pursuits. For instance, Anna and Tanya are looking to open an “after hours club” which is actually a whore house, and they are very excited to find a perfect location. In most novels, it would be the “bad guys” who would do this, but the heroes in these books find nothing wrong with it.

Hopefully, Tallon is working hard on the next novel because this one ends with a cliffhanger and it is very difficult to wait for the next installment. It is highly recommended that readers start with the first in the series; they are all fabulous and leave readers wanting more.
